DIVORCE IN NEW YORK STATE
In New York State there are many things that go into obtaining a divorce. There are two types of divorces in New York State:
The difference between the two is that in uncontested divorces, no one disputes anything. These divorces are the easiest. They are also the rarest. Often, because people don’t have many assets, they fool themselves into believing they have an uncontested divorce. However, such is often not the case, especially when it comes to the greatest asset a family can have: CHILDREN.
If a married couple has a child or children and they have not resolved who will have custody or a visitation schedule, the divorce is not uncontested. These issues must be resolved.
